Fareway Headquarters: A Partnership Based on Trust
Fareway Stores, Inc. is a Midwest-based grocery company known for its strong community values, customer-first culture, and timeless brand identity. Having partnered with Fareway for many years on both new store builds and remodels, Archetype was invited to help bring their new corporate headquarters in Johnston, Iowa, to life through brand-forward signage and environmental design.
The Ask
The Fareway team collaborated with Archetype early in the construction process, seeking a comprehensive signage package to enhance both the exterior and interior of Fareway’s new facility. They wanted the signage to honor the company’s history while reflecting current and future themes.
The signage package included:
- Monument signs and building identification signage
- Wayfinding signage
- ADA-compliant interior signage
- Digitally printed wall graphics
- Various branded interior displays
- Elevator cab faux wood panels
The Approach
Working with Fareway’s general contractor, Dean Snyder Construction, Archetype provided direct consultation and design refinement prior to the fabrication and installation of the entire signage scope.
Fareway’s distinct brand had established design themes and a color palette that guided the facility’s interior design. Archetype finessed the signage aesthetic to align with these standards, developing each element to integrate seamlessly with the architecture and interior design of the new headquarters.
The Key: Consistent Collaboration
The partnership between Archetype and Fareway is built on years of trust and a shared commitment to excellence. Throughout the design, manufacturing, and installation process, close communication with the client on designs and materials ensured ongoing success and satisfaction.
Thanks to early involvement and a deep understanding of Fareway’s brand, Archetype was able to proactively mitigate potential challenges. Coordination with multiple stakeholders, including the general contractor, designers, and Fareway’s internal team, required consistent communication and adaptability, which was made seamless by an established working relationship.
The Outcome
When Archetype functions as a partner and serves the client, going above and beyond becomes a way of being. Responsiveness, design consultation, and attention to detail were central to the project’s success
The completed signage program enhances the visual appeal of Fareway’s headquarters while reinforcing the company’s legacy and identity. The result is a cohesive, branded environment that embodies Fareway’s heritage and future outlook.
