One Rangers Way Luxury Apartments | Placemaking With Custom Installations
Just steps from the Texas Rangers Globe Life Field, these apartments feature floor-to-ceiling windows that fill each space with natural light and unbeatable views of the city’s most legendary landmarks. The Archetype team took on the creation of a few custom-built landmarks for One Rangers Way.
ONE RANGERS WAY – ARLINGTON, TX
In Arlington, Texas, at One Rangers Way, an apartment complex offering luxury living with over 43,000 square feet of resort-inspired amenities. Just steps from the Texas Rangers Globe Life Field, these apartments feature floor-to-ceiling windows that fill each space with natural light and unbeatable views of the city’s most legendary landmarks.
The team aimed to elevate those views with bold, one-of-a-kind signage that resembled an art installation — and deliver it all within a tight two-month timeline.
Turning Sketches Into Masterpieces
Selbert Perkins Design, an international environmental graphic design agency, had big ideas — and they knew, from our long-standing relationship, that we could bring their concepts to life. We acted as both creative partner and technical expert, building out their initial sketches into ready-to-build plans. Here’s how we partnered with Selbert Perkins to bring these standout pieces to life:
The Spiral
The gateway to One Rangers Way is this eye-catching spiral. Not every sign company could build this spiral. We came to the table with fresh ideas and solutions to engineer a hidden support structure that creates the illusion of effortless suspension. Weighing in at around 3,000 pounds, this 24-foot-tall spiral uses 12”- wide rolled steel painted “Ranger Red” to spiral around the 8” steel pipe center. The result is a striking centerpiece that sets the tone for the property.
The Star
Nothing says Texas like the Lone Star, so it only made sense to put a landmark 24-foot star on the lawn. But this is no ordinary star, this powder-coated steel star uses three full stars connected at one axis point. The shapes are connected together with internal connector tubes. The powder-coated finish mimics the look of rusted steel and resists chipping, fading, and corrosion. It’s a modern tribute to Texas pride, built to last.
The Diver
The best amenity at One Rangers Way? The outdoor pool with a swim-up bar. The developers wanted something eye-catching to highlight the space — and they got it. We fabricated a sleek, minimalist silhouette of a diver emerging from the water. To create a sign that could be installed in chlorinated water, Archetype developed a custom base with close attention to the water line, structural reinforcement, a concrete base with stainless steel anchors, a 1” mounting plate, and gussets for extra support. The custom diver blends art with architecture for a photo-worthy poolside moment.
The Baseballs
Texas Rangers memorabilia is incorporated into the apartment complex’s design with dozens of artifacts displayed throughout the community. More than 50 custom pieces, including photos, murals, and sculptures featuring Rangers players through the years line the halls. For one last nod to America’s favorite pastime, we made nearly 5’ tall LED baseball designs that are reverse channel and illuminated. These baseballs are along the exterior ground floor of the apartment building, installed sequentially, rotated 45 degrees each, and the LEDs are timed to illuminate so the baseballs appear to move and spin. This installation brings the energy of the game to the heart of the community.
The Result
These finishing touches serve as public art, amplifying the community’s placemaking strategy and celebrating Texas’s rich history. The result is a powerful statement, a lasting impression, and another grand slam for Arlington’s new Entertainment District.
